Liability & Safety Agreement

For Street Outreach & Community Events

Christway Outreach (DBA “Christway”) is committed to serving our community safely, responsibly, and with integrity. To protect our volunteers, the people we serve, and the mission itself, all participants must review and agree to the following Liability & Safety Agreement before joining any outreach or community event.

1. Assumption of Risk

I understand that participating in street outreach or community events may involve certain risks, including:

• Being in public areas with unpredictable conditions
• Interacting with people experiencing crisis, homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges
• Lifting, walking, carrying items, or light physical activity
• Environmental factors such as weather, crowds, or uneven terrain

I voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation.

2. Personal Responsibility

I agree to:

• Follow all instructions from Christway staff and volunteers
• Use wisdom, awareness, and caution during all outreach activity
• Notify leadership immediately if I feel unsafe or witness unsafe behavior
• Avoid confrontational or escalated situations
• Respect the boundaries of team members and those we serve

3. Medical Considerations

I affirm that:

• I am participating voluntarily
• I am physically able to take part in light outreach activity
• I will inform Christway leadership of any medical conditions that may affect participation
• Christway is not responsible for providing medical treatment

In case of emergency, I authorize Christway to secure necessary medical care on my behalf.

4. Release of Liability

I release and hold harmless Christway Outreach, its leadership, volunteers, representatives, and partners from any and all liability, claims, injuries, damages, or losses arising from my participation in street outreach or community events.

This includes (but is not limited to):

• Accidents or injuries
• Property damage
• Emotional stress
• Encounters with individuals in the community
• Transportation to and from the outreach site

I understand that Christway is a nonprofit ministry and is not liable for unforeseen situations that may occur in public environments.

5. Behavior & Conduct

I agree to:

• Conduct myself respectfully at all times
• Follow the Christway Code of Conduct
• Avoid profanity, substance use, or inappropriate behavior
• Serve with compassion, humility, and integrity

Christway reserves the right to remove any volunteer who compromises safety or the mission.

6. Agreement

By submitting the contact/volunteer form, I acknowledge that:

• I have read and understand this Liability & Safety Agreement
• I freely agree to these terms
• My participation in outreach is voluntary
• This agreement is binding for all Christway-related activities
